pd This band has elements to their music that no other band in the scene has gone near. It's hard to make an album like this without sounding overproduced and Hostage Calm did it just right with Please Remain Calm. A year later and it's still in my top 5 favorite albums. Favorite track: Patriot.

jason thomas The singer and Leigh Murphy have a special bond. This albums brilliance will creep up on you and suffocate you with happiness. Favorite track: Woke Up Next To A Body.

summer villain Gorgeous melodies, reminds me a lot of Voxtrot -- really just trace elements of their punk heritage on display at this point, very well crafted indie pop with some lingering bite. Favorite track: The "M" Word.

What always amazes me is that it's littered with melodies and lyrics good enough on their own to build an entire song around, but Captain We're Sinking has so many great ideas, they don't need to stretch any single one beyond its welcome.
